This year the Groby Street Fair will hold a commemorative display for the centenary of World War 1 in St Philip and St James Church. All visitors are welcome to commemorate those who lost their lives.
The display will be centred around the local lives of Groby residents and how the war affected each of them. With displays along both sides of the church and individual stories of the War.
It seems fitting that the Church has kindly offered us this space to display this information as it holds the Memorial Plaque for both the First and Second World Wars. You will be able to see detailed information about the residents listed on them.
“Remembrance is part of modern British life, culture and heritage and our poppy is the symbol of Remembrance and hope.”
Remembering the war to end all wars and all who fought and died in it.
